Khanal reiterates demand for second hierarchy
CPN-UML general secretary Jhala Nath Khanal has reiterated his party’s stance of not joining the new government led by CPN (Maoist) if the second position in hierarchy is not entertained to his party in the cabinet.
Speaking at the inaugural session of the party's sixth district convention of Bara yesterday, Khanal publicly revealed that his party refused to participate in the oath taking ceremony due to differences with the Maoists over ministerial hierarchy.
Stressing on the roles of hierarchies in functioning of the government, Khanal said that to join government without the demanded hierarchy would mean losing self-respect. He threatened to hit the streets with protests if they were not given such portfolio.
He said the issue of the integration of two armies was the major challenge to the peace process. nepalnews.com ia Aug 24 08
