The CWC meeting summoned after the party's decision to remain in the opposition is expected to devise new strategies and take decisions on consolidating the organisation. The leaders are also expected to muse over the party's poor performance in the Constituent Assembly.

Speaking at the meeting, acting president Sushil Koirala said the party would take strong position against all kinds of attempts to undermine democratic norms and values. According to him, the party will support the good works of the Maoist-led government while strongly opposing any undemocratic and unilateral action.

Koirala also emphasised that the party should stand united from the grassroots level in the true spirit of unification reached between the NC and then NC (Democratic) last year.

General secretary Bimalendra Nidhi presented a paper on party's policies at the meeting.

Most of the CWC members who put their views at the meeting are learnt to have demanded that the party go for a special general convention to elect a new leadership and rejuvenate the organisation.

The meeting is expected to run for two-three days more as a number of leaders are yet to present their views, NC spokesperson Arjun Narsingh K.C said. nepalnews.com mk Aug 25 08
