One killed, 9 injured in Bara police firing

Police firing in Bara district has led to the death of one worker while injuring nine others on Friday morning during a demonstration called by the industry workers.

The injured labourers have been rushed to Parsa district for medical treatment, who are reported to be in critical condition.

The deceased worker has been identified as Kebal Raut of Surya Nepal, one of the biggest tobacco companies in the country.

The tussle between the management and the workers had started Thursday. Police had baton charged the protesting workers on that day leading to injury of three policemen and dozens of labourers. Infuriated workers resumed demonstration against the police from early morning Friday.

After the incident, the labourers have blocked highways along the Pathlaiya corridors and closed down industries in Bara, Parsa and Rautahat. They have been demonstrating around the industries and along the highway. nepalnews.com ia Aug 29 08
