Formation of political committee gets delayed
Despite claims to the contrary, the major parties have failed to announce the formation of political committee on Tuesday.
The meeting among leaders of ruling coalition partners – Maoists, UML, MJF and three smaller parties – Tuesday morning had taken up the issue of forming the all party political committee to guide the government.
However, no major headway was made and the parties have now decided to hold another meeting on Wednesday to form the committee.
On Monday, the three parties had proposed two leaders each from their side to represent the committee. The UML has proposed the names of Madhav Kumar Nepal and Bhim Rawal while the Maoists have proposed the names of Dev Gurung and Barsha Man Pun 'Ananta' and the MJF has proposed the names of Upendra Yadav and Sharat Singh Bhandari.
The meeting on Tuesday got stuck after three smaller parties of the ruling coalition – Nepal Sadbhavana Party, Jana Morcha and CPN-United – also demanded that they get to propose two names each at the committee. Earlier, the big three had assigned themselves two membership each and allocated one membership each to junior partners. nepalnews.com sd Dec 02 08
