MK Nepal now questions essence of political committee
Former UML general secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal, who had been tipped to
head the high-level political coordination committee of the ruling
parties, has questioned the very essence of such a body in as it stands
now.
Speaking to reporters in Birgunj on Thursday, Nepal said he turned down
the offer to head the committee because the panel would not be anything
more than a platform for political gossip. He argued that the coordination
committee without the Prime Minister being part of it is meaningless.
Nepal had refused to head the committee, saying it is full of junior
leaders who, he indicted, would not be able to turn things around.
In the meantime, Nepal also came down heavily on the Maoists for what he
called "continuation of unruly activities like capturing of properties"
and defended the formation of the Youth Force "in order to check the
terror unleashed by the Young Communist League (YCL)". nepalnews.com mk Dec 11 08
