Terai turmoil continues on eighth day

As the demonstrations and vandalism in terai continued on the eighth day of indefinite general strike, Wednesday, called by United Democratic Madhesi Front, administrations in various districts have announced curfew to keep the situation under control.

The Siraha district administration has imposed indefinite curfew in Lahan, Golbazaar and district headquarters Siraha from 7 am on Wednesday morning.

The east-west highway has been blocked by the trees fell down by the agitators while demonstrations continue outside the curfew-clamped areas.

The police fired five rounds of tear gas shells in Janaki chowk to control the demonstrations in Janakpur.

The curfew continues in Bara and Parsa districts, imposed to escort petroleum products to capital city – Kathmandu. The local authority in Banke district re-imposed curfew in Nepalgunj municipality and 10 VDCs surrounding the municipality from 8 this morning.
