Parties start registering closed lists of PR candidates at EC
Political parties have begun registering the closed lists of their candidates to be elected under proportional representation system in the constituent assembly election, at the Election Commission (EC), Wednesday afternoon.
While major parties are still on homework to finalise their lists, around ten smaller parties have filed their candidacies at the EC by 3:00 pm. Only Nepal Workers and Peasant Party (NWPP) in the ruling alliance has registered the closed list.
Nepal Bikash Party, Muskan Sena Nepal, Nepal Janabhawana Party and Samajbadi Prajatantrik Party are among the parties that have filed the closed lists.
The commission has set today (Feb 20) as the deadline to file the closed list of PR candidacies. Major parties in the alliance have said they are close to finalising their lists and that they will register them within the deadline.
Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala has already said the election schedule published by the commission will not be changed. nepalnews.com ia Feb 20 08
