Fund established to save Dolma Sherpa from Kuwaiti persecution
The Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) has established Save Dolma Sherpa Fund and has also appealed to Nepalis residing across the globe to contribute to the Fund.
The fund established with the initiative of NRNA Women’s Forum has Usha Sharma and Tenzi Sherpa as Joint Coordinators.
NRNA has also requested its National Coordination Councils to coordinate the fund raising activities in the respective countries.
The NRNA said it would use the fund collected in consultation with the government to meet the expenses associated with defending the case in the court of law and meet other expenses to save the life of Dolma Sherpa and other Nepalis in similar condition.
The foreign ministry recently said that somewhere around Rs 50 lakhs is needed to appoint a competent lawyer to fight Dolma’s case at the Kuwaiti court which had handed down death sentence to her on the allegation of killing an elderly woman. For the purpose the foreign ministry has already arranged Rs 4 lakhs as seed money. nepalnews.com ag Feb 22 08
