Nepalis in US join hands to save Dolma
Nepalis in US submitted a memorandum to Nepal's permanent representative to United Nations Madhuraman Acharya Wednesday appealing for the safe release of Dolma Sherpa who was sentenced to death by Kuwaiti court for allegedly murdering a woman.
A team of Lopsang Thinley of the Himalayan Society; Chongba Sherpa of Sherpa Kiduk and Karma Gelze Sherpa of Indigenous Federation had jointly submitted the memo to Acharya who promised that he would extend all the necessary help to them.
Lopsang Thinley of the Himalayan Society told Kantipur Daily that he was ready to take whatever initiative needed for the safe release of Dolma Sherpa who is currently serving time in Kuwait jail after being slapped the death sentence by Kuwait's lower court three months ago.
Meanwhile, the daily reported that Dolma's case is currently being reviewed at the appellate court. Prakash Kumar Subedi, Deputy chief of mission of the Riyadh-based Nepali Embassy in Saudi Arabia, confirmed by phone that Dolma's case is currently under review at the appellate court. nepalnews.com ag Jan 17 08
