NC, MJF reaffirm support to UML for CA chair

Nepali Congress and Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF) have reassured CPN (UML) of their support to its candidate for the Constituent Assembly chair.

NC and MJF leaders said they pledged their support to UML's bid for CA chairmanship as per the four-point agreement reached by them while forming the three-party alliance on Saturday.

During a meeting held at UML parliamentary party office in Singha Durbar on Tuesday, Congress and MJF leaders also thanked the UML CA members for voting their candidates for president and vice-president, respectively, to a comfortable win.

The three-party combine also discussed its future moves especially the formation of new government, but there was no decision.

Meanwhile, the UML is yet to name its candidate for the CA chair to be elected on Thursday.

A meeting of the UML standing committee, which is likely to name the candidate, was still underway at the party's central office when this report was prepared. Reports, meanwhile, said the UML is likely to field former speaker Subas Nemwang for the post. nepalnews.com mk July 22 08
