UN, US, China congratulate Nepal's first prez
Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ban Ki Moon, has
congratulated Dr. Ram Baran Yadav on his election as the
first
President of the Republic of Nepal.
In a statement issued Wednesday, the UNSG called on all parties to "cooperate in forming a new government which will carry forward Nepal's peace process."
Likewise, China has congratulated Nepal on the successful election of a President, Dr Ram Baran Yadav.
Speaking at a press conference in Beijing Tuesday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao said, "As a good neighbor, friend, and partner of Nepal, China sincerely hopes Nepal will continue its peace process and realize political stability, economic development and national unity."
Earlier the same day, the United States of America congratulated Constituent Assembly (CA) members and the people of Nepal on the successful presidential election. nepalnews.com July 23 08
