Three parties spurn Maoist conditions

The three parties – Nepali Congress (NC), Unified Marxist Leninist (UML) and Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF) – leaders have termed as 'unjustified' the three conditions advanced by the Maoists to lead the government.

Following Prachanda's conditions – breaking of NC-UML-MJF alliance, formulation of common minimum programme and guarantee of government stability for two years – the leaders of the three parties have said that a party that intends to lead the government should not be posing conditions.

"The new alliance was forged to take the peace process to logical end. There is no need to break that alliance. Besides, the party that wants to lead the government should be fulfilling others' conditions," Ram Chandra Poudel, vice president of NC told Kantipur.

The UML leader Iswor Pokharel termed Maoist conditions as 'unnecessary.'

The MJF coordinator Upendra Yadav ridiculed the conditions, saying, "It is ridiculous that two days after they decided not to join government, they have come up with conditions." nepalnews.com sd Jul 25 08
