Boat capsizes in Kailali district; two dead, five missing

At least two persons died and five people have gone missing when a packed passenger boat capsized in Kanara River in Kailali district Sunday afternoon.

The boat, which was heading to Fulbari from Dangadhi, capsized midway through the journey. Reports said some 30 were traveling in the boat. Two dozen passengers managed to swim ashore and saved their lives, reports said.

Police personnel from the nearby police post immediately engaged in rescue efforts after hearing about the accident and a special rescue team is on the way from Dhangadhi to help in efforts to find the survivors.
