PM consults with home minister, security officials as ex-King prepares to vacate the palace

Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala consulted with Home Minister Krishna Prasad Sitaula as well as security officials at Baluwatar, Wednesday morning, as the ex-King Gyanendra prepares to vacate the Narayanhiti palace in the evening.

The PM held talks about the security arrangement for the palace and ex-royals with the security officials, say reports.

Five senior officials of the Nepali Army including chief of army staff Rookmangud Katwal, senior officials from Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and National Investigation Department attended the meeting.

Apart from the Home Minister Krishna Prasad Situala, home secretary, defense secretary and security advisor of PM Koirala Ramesh Jung Thapa were also present at the meeting.

Meanwhile, ex-King Gyanendra is said to be preparing to leave the palace in the evening.

He is going to address a brief press meet at around five in the evening before he leaves, according to unconfirmed reports. He is expected to explain his side of the story at the press meet.

The ex-royals have been provided with 50 Armed Police Force personnel and 25 Nepali Army personnel. They will shift to Nagarjuna palace. nepalnews.com ia/sd Jun 11 08
