Power-sharing to be resolved through CA
The protracted issues of power-sharing are set to be resolved through the election at the Constituent Assembly (CA).
As the consultations among the parties have failed to resolve the issues of power-sharing, they are now closer to reach a conclusion to let the new government be formed through the CA.
According to Kantipur daily, during the talks on Saturday, Prime Minister and president of Nepali Congress (NC) Girija Prasad Koirala said that he was willing to step down once the interim constitution is amended to allow for the formation of new government.
He also said that the NC will not be a part of such Maoist-led government and would, rather, stay in opposition.
Following the pact of Maoist-Unified Marxist Leninist (UML) to support each other’s candidate for prime minister and president, respectively, the NC is close to concluding that it would stay in opposition. “NC should get the position of president. If that does not happen then the NC will not accept the position of CA chairman,” NC leader Dr. Pakash Sharan Mahat told Nepal Samacharpatra daily. nepalnews.com sd Jun 22 08
