Nationwide transport strike from Monday

The transport entrepreneurs have announced nationwide strike beginning Monday.

After their talks with the government failed on Sunday, the transport entrepreneurs have announced the nationwide strike.

Till Sunday, the National Federation of Transport Entrepreneurs had imposed strike only in Bagmati zone.

They are protesting the decision of the government to allow them to hike transport fares by 25 percent saying it is ‘insufficient.’

The government had allowed them to hike the fare by that level following the increase in the price of fuel by 20 percent.

The Ministry of Labour and Transport Management has again called the agitating transporters for talks on Monday.

Meanwhile, demanding that their sales commission be maintained and the price of diesel and petrol be brought to same level, the petroleum dealers have stopped selling/distributing the fuel. nepalnews.com sd Jun 23 08
