With the announcement by Maoist leaders Sunday evening not to return to
Baluwatar any more for political negotiations, allegations and counter
allegations have surfaced between Nepali Congress and Maoists on the
failure to end the current political deadlock.
Speaking at Reporters Club Monday, Maoist leader Dev Gurung claimed it was
on part of NC putting one condition after another creating obstacles to
formation of new government.
Gurung claimed that NC raised the issue of seat for opposition party in
the Security Council, which was not included in seven-point demanded put
forward, by the party earlier.
Stating that NC is taking advantage of the current situation, Gurung said
his party was close to consensus with UML on matters of power sharing and
formation of new government.
Gurung warned of no-confidence vote against Koirala if he did not resign
within the next sitting of the constituent assembly.
Speaking at the same function, NC leader Dr. Praksh Sharan Mahat stressed
the importance of including leader of opposition party in the Security
Council in a country preceded by armed insurgency.
UML leader Bhim Rawal was in favour of his party forging coalition with
the Maoists for formation of new government to end the current stalemate.
