Sixty minors still inside Maoist cantonments: Report
A report released by UNICEF and local NGOs in Khotang Tuesday stated that at least 60 minors from Khotang and Okhaldhunga districts are still inside the Maoist People's Liberation Army (PLA) cantonments in Chitwan, Udaypur and Ilam districts.
Some 34 child combatants from Khotang and 26 from Okhaldhunga are still living inside the Maoist PLA cantonments along with other combatants, the report said.
It may be recalled that altogether 117 Maoist child combatants from Khotang, 114 from Okhaldhunga and two each from Bhojpur and Udaypur district have returned home following the Comprehensive Peace Accord (CPA) between the government and CPN (Maoist) party in 2006, which formally marked an end to the decade long insurgency. nepalnews.com Jun 24 08
