Statute amendment bill registered at parliament secretariat
The government has registered the Fifth Amendment bill at the parliament secretariat Thursday morning.
The constituent assembly is expected to endorse the bill today, which was scheduled to begin at 11 in the morning.
The 22-point agreement for amendment of the interim constitution was approved by the cabinet Wednesday evening after being finalised by the seven party meeting.
Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala, who is expected to address the CA sitting this afternoon, is likely to announce his resignation as prime minister to be approved by president. The parties have agreed to elect president through simple majority in the CA.
