VDC secys receive threats

At least 35 VDC secretaries in Sunsari district have received threats from armed rebel groups in terai forcing them to stay away from their work stations in villages.

According to The Himalayan Times, only 14 secretaries of villages along the east-west highway are working at their office.

Most of the secretaries who received threats are camping at District Development Committee hall.

Madhesi Mukti Tigers, Akhil Terai Mukti Morcha of Jay Krishna Goit and Janatantrik Terai Mukti Morcha of Jwala Singh were some of the armed groups posing threats to the secretaries.

The JTMM (J) has warned of action against the government employees of hilly origin while ATMM has published a list 37 people including government employees, businessmen and other personalities of the district and said they would file charges in their Terai People's Court.
