Govt invites UNSG for polls observation
Government has sent an invitation to Secretary General of the United Nations Ban-ki Moon for Nepal visit during the constituent assembly polls.
Kantipur daily quotes Nepal's permanent representative to UN Madhu Raman Acharya as saying that he had handed over the invitation letter to Moon recently.
Acharya said Moon was positive about visiting Nepal but no date has been fixed for his tour. It is not sure whether he will visit as an observer during the polls.
Possibilities are that he might also visit to inaugurate the regional office of disarmament in Kathmandu or during the function to be organised on the occasion of golden jubilee celebration of the Nepal's military contribution to UN peace keeping mission.
Former US president Jimmy Carter is scheduled to visit Nepal as an election observer. nepalnews.com ia Mar 25 08
