Maoists obstruct UML election rally in Dhading

Cadres of the Maoist youth wing, Young Communist League (YCL), have obstructed an election rally of CPN-UML candidate in Dhading-3, Rajendra Pandey, on Tuesday.

Reports said a group of YCL men gheraoed the venue of a mass meeting, which was to be addressed by Pandey, in Jibanpur VDC 7. The UCL men ultimately forced the UML campaigners to cancel the programme.

Talking to reporters after the incident, Pandey said the YCL cadres, who were led by Maoist district committee member Deepak Lamichhane, had fired two shots in the air while trying to disrupt the programme.

Pandey, who has won three successive parliamentary elections from Dhading, is a former minister and a central leader of the UML. nepalnews.com mk Mar 25 08
