170 incidents of poll violence: DEAN

In the last three months, there have been around 170 incidents of poll-related violence across the country.

This has been made public by Democracy and Election Alliance (DEAN), an organisation working in election observation.

According to its report, which covers the period from the month of Mangsir till the first week of Chaitra, 20 persons were killed, 623 injured and 24 abducted.

The report points that majority of these incidents were carried out by armed outfits operating in Terai.
