'PLA's involvement in election campaigning objectionable'
Minister for Peace and Reconstruction Ram Chandra Poudel has described the involvement of Maoist combatants in their party's election campaigning as objectionable, insisting that they better keep to their cantonments.
"Maoist People's Liberation Army (PLA) combatants are found involved in their party's election campaign by coming out of their cantonment. These are objectionable activities," Poudel said at an interaction organised by Reporters' Club Nepal on Tuesday.
He further said that Maoist combatants should confine themselves to their temporary cantonments just like the Nepal Army (NA) personnel keep to their barracks.
Minister Poudel also said that he has already taken up this issue with Ian Martin, chief of the United Nation Mission in Nepal. nepalnews.com ag Mar 26 08
