Rs 1.8 m collected to save Dolma
More than Rs 1.8 million has been collected till now in a bid to save the
life of Dolma Sherpa on whom a death sentence has been slapped for
allegedly murdering a Filipino woman in Kuwait.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the major share of the
aforesaid amount was collected from Nepali workers in Qatar including
Nepali communities in different countries.
While the Qatar-based Nepalis mission had collected Rs 1.1 million from
Nepali workers and welfare organizations in Qatar, Rs 300,000 was
collected by Association of Non-Resident Nepalis (NRN).
The government had initiated the process of fund raising by providing Rs
400,000 as seed money for remuneration of a defense lawyer on behalf of
Doma and to negotiate with the victim's family members for blood money.
It is estimated that around Rs 5 million is needed to appoint a defense
