VDC secy killed in Terai

Another VDC secretary has been murdered in Mahottari district, again proving that the Terai is still not safe for government officers.

Allahudin Ansari, secretary of Bispatti VDC of the district, has been killed by his abductors four months after kidnapping him.

The yet to be identified abductors killed Ansari in the frontier Indian village of Sonbarsha where he was taken after abduction, reports said.

The abductors had been demanding ransom from Ansari's family for his release.

Although police are yet to identify the abductors, they suspect that armed outfits like Janatantrik Terai Mukti Morcha (JTMM) that are involved in
targeted killings and abduction of government officials and people of hilly origin in Terai region just before the polls, to be responsible for abduction and subsequent killing of Ansari.

Meanwhile, cadres of Jwala Singh faction of JTMM on Saturday abducted three persons in Saptari district.

Those abducted by the armed outfit have been identified as Narendra Baidya and Krishchandra Shrestha of Kavre and Amar Rai of Jhumka in Sunsari.

Reports said that the armed outfit abducted them after seizing a van they were traveling in on East-West highway.
