Failure is the sign of success: UML Gen secy Khanal
Newly appointed general secretary of CPN (UML), Jhalanath Khanal, has said that failure is the sign of success and the party would now move ahead with this motto in mind.
Khanal, who was unanimously elected for the top job of the third largest political party during it 18th Central Committee meeting Thursday, said that UML has learnt a grave lesson from the unexpected defeat the party suffered in the Constituent Assembly election and assured that it would not commit the same mistake it had made in the past.
He said the party would now focus its entire attention on ending the despotic monarchy and establishing federal republic, inclusive democracy and sustainable peace.
Khanal, who was speaking at a program organized by the party to mark the 15th Madan-Ashrit Memorial Day Friday, also said that rather than the issue of whether UML should be a part of the new government or not, the important thing at hand was the drafting of the constitution and the party would focus its attention on that. He also said that the King would be powerless to engage in any kind of conspiracy after the first sitting of the Constituent Assembly seals his fate by establishing the country a federal republic, following which the party would commit itself to the task of fulfilling the aspirations of the people.
Meanwhile, to mark the 14th anniversary of the death of former CPN-UML general secretary Madan Bhandari and another senior leader Jiv Raj Ashrit various programmes are being organized all over the country by CPN (UML) and its sister organizations today.
On the occasion a commemoration ceremony was organized at the CPN (UML) headquarters. During the program party leaders and activists had garlanded the statue of the late communist leaders and spoke highly of the contribution they made to Nepal’s communist movement.
A charismatic leader known for his fiery speeches, Madan Bhandari championed “multiparty communism” in Nepal’s communist movement. He along with his colleague Ashrit had died in a mysterious jeep accident in Dasdhunga 15 years ago while returning from a party's district convention in Kaski. nepalnews.com ag May 16 08
