MJF not joining Maoist-led government: Yadav
Chairman of Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF) Upendra Yadav has termed as baseless claims that his party is joining a Maoist-led government, saying that the party does not have the "people's mandate" for it.
This remark by the MJF strongman comes a day after senior Maoist leader Dr. Baburam Bhattarai affirmed at a program in Birgunj on Friday that the CPN (Maoist) is forming a coalition government by joining hands with all Madhesi parties, including the MJF.
"Madhesi Janadhikar Forum does not have the people's mandate to join the government," Yadav told Kantipur Daily Saturday, "I don't know on what basis Baburam ji (Dr Baburam Bhattarai) made this remark but there has not been any discussion on the possibility of joining the government."
Stating that MJF hasn't yet decided on whether they would participate in the government or not, Yadav said the party's policy is to raise the problems ailing Madhes while remaining in the opposition. Yadav also reiterated his demand for the resignation of Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala.
He said that the MJF couldn't possibly refrain from being a part of the government if all the national and regional political parties represented in the CA participate in it. MJF had called for a formation of a national government prior to the election. nepalnews.com ag May 18 08
