Kidnapped Nepali worker freed in Afghanistan

Afghan security forces have freed a Nepali and an Indian worker kidnapped by a criminal gang in Heart province, officials said.

Karna Bahadur Gurung, a Nepali road worker who was kidnapped along with
his Indian colleague from Herat, was freed in a raid by Afghan security officials on Sunday, reports said.

The two were taken away from a vehicle while traveling on a highway on April 21.

"The security forces freed them from the kidnappers in an operation," reports quoted Habib Habib, the head of intelligence department in Heart, as saying.
