Royal flag removed from palace
Following the announcement of republic, the Narayanhiti palace authority
has removed the royal flag from the main tower of the palace Thursday
morning.
The flag had been the insignia of the royal shah dynasty. Now the
government plans to put up the national flag later today.
A group of people tried raising national flag at the front gate of the
palace but were dispersed due to police intervention.
The police also mercilessly beat some youths who tried to raise national
flag on top of the King's Mahendra's statue at King's Way.
A group of people chanted slogan in favour of republic asking former king
Gyanendra Shah to vacate the palace immediately.
The historic constituent assembly on Wednesday had asked the government to
turn the royal palace into a national museum and instructed the government
