MJF-called strike affects life in Biratnagar
The continued transport strike called by Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF) in
the eastern town of Biratnagar has hit the normal life there on Tuesday as
well.
The town has been closed since Monday due to protests by MJF cadres
against the killing of Karan Yadav, a MJF cadre, after dispute over the
contract for a project of Morang District Development Committee on Sunday.
Marketplaces were closed down while vehicle remained off the streets from
early morning today.
The protesters have demanded that the persons involved in the killing
ofYadav be brought to justice.
Local leaders of the MJF announced in the afternoon that they had called
off the protest for the next 24 hours in view of the Chhath festival being
celebrated today. Repots said the situation is returning to normal after
