The employees announced that all medical services except emergency will be halted at the hospital from 1 pm today to exert pressure for the fulfillment of their demands which include increment in salary and perks and recruitment of more doctors and health staffs to meet the growing pressure of patients and give efficient medical services at one of the busiest public hospital in the country.

They said they were compelled to take this drastic measure as the management had repeatedly turned deaf ear to their demands in the past.

The agitating employees also warned that they would be compelled to announce strike for an indefinite period from tomorrow if their demands are not met at the earliest.

Apart from thousands of patients referred to the hospital from all over the country for various diseases, the hospital also receives the largest number of accident and other emergency cases on any given day because of its central location. nepalnews.com ag Nov 13 08
