Bir Hospital staffs submit memo to PM; allow medical services to resume
Agitating doctors and other health staffs of National Academy of Medical Sciences, Bir Hospital submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Monday demanding, among others, resignation of its vice-chancellor Dr. Bishwo Raj Dali.
The Prime Minister, who is also chancellor of the academy, assured the representatives of NAMS, who had come to submit the memorandum at his official residence, that he would discuss the matter with the secretary at the health ministry and then the health minister himself who is currently abroad in order to find an amicable solution the problems facing the hospital.
Considering the difficulties faced by thousands of patients who come to the hospital everyday for checkup from all over the country, the protesting staff have allowed all medical services at Bir Hospital which remain halted since three days to resume from Monday.
They, however, say that their protests will continue until their demands which include increment in salary and perks, recruitment of more health staffs to meet the growing pressure of patients at the hospital, effective health services, and better working environment are not met. nepalnews.com Nov 18 08
