Probe commission will be formed on murder of two Kathmandu youths: Home Minister
The government is going to form a high-level panel to probe the murder of the two Kathmandu youths after being abducted by cadres of Young Communist League (YCL) in Dhading, Home Minister Bam Dev Gautam said.
Speaking to reporters after an interaction programme held at the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Wednesday, Gautam said the government would quickly move into action in this case and added that those behind the murder would be brought to justice.
The Home Minister's reaction came as student organisations and relatives of the victims - Nirmal Panta and Pushkar Dangol - staged angry protests, turning tyres on the road and blocking vehicular traffic in different parts of the capital.
Dead bodies of Panta, 24, and Dangol, 22, who were abducted by a group of YCL cadres from Malekhu in Dhading district one month ago, were found buried at Bhorlephant Bagar of the same district on Tuesday. They were taken away by YCL cadres when the latter were staging a protest against the killing of their cadres in Dhading.
The two youths were returning home after a trip to Gorkha district.
Meanwhile, the CPN (UML) in a statement today said the slain youths were its cadres. The party also demanded immediate probe into the murder case and action "against the YCL men who killed them".
On the other hand, YCL chief Ganesh Man Pun said the League was not involved in the killing. Pun told Nepal F.M that YCL is ready to cooperate with the government in the investigation process. nepalnews.com mk Nov 19 08
