CA chair asks parties to stop squabbling over army integration issue
Chairman of the Constituent Assembly Subash Nemwang has urged the political parties to stop bickering over the issue of army integration "because the principles for army integration have been clearly laid out in the comprehensive peace accord (CPA) and the interim constitution".
Nemwang expressed disappointment over the ongoing dispute between the parties and suggested them not to make the army integration issue a matter of endless debate. Army integration, according to him, should be done as per the CPA and the constitution.
The CA chairman was speaking at a programme in eastern town of Dhankuta Thursday.
Meanwhile, speaking at another programme in Jhapa, Nemwang said the constitution-drafting process will ensure involvement of ordinary people, informing that CA will deploy expert teams to villages around the country to collect pubic opinion so that the new statute reflects the interest of the people.
He further said that since the delineation of federal units would be done as per the recommendation of the state restructuring commission, which is yet to be formed, the demands for ethnicity-based federal units like 'Limbuwan' and Khumbuwan' are simply unjustifiable. nepalnews.com mk Nov 20 08
