No cooperation with Maoists unless YCL activities checked and seized
properties returned: Poudel
Vice President of Nepali Congress Ram Chandra Poudel has said unless the
CPN (Maoist) controls the unruly activities of its youth wing, Young
Communist League (YCL) and return the properties seized during the
insurgency, cooperation with them will be impossible.
Speaking at a function organised by Nepal Press Union in Tamghas, the
district headquarters of Gulmi, Monday morning, Poudel said if the Maoists
want cooperation from NC they must create conducive environment for return
of displaced people to their original place, and tame the YCL cadres.
Stating that his party would be involved while forming the local government, Poudel asked the government to first clarify the authorities, works and responsibilities to be entrusted to these local bodies.
However, he mentioned that the current government is not mandated to form
the ad hoc committees to run local bodies and carryout development
activities.
NC leaders are currently visiting districts as part of the party's
'revival campaign'. nepalnews.com ia Nov 24 08
