Ruling coalition divided over CA vice chair
Two partners in the coalition - CPN (UML) and Janamorcha Nepal - have
decided to support the candidacy of CPN (Maoist) for the post of
Constituent Assembly vice chair person.
A brief meeting of the three parties held Friday morning decided to support Maoist candidate Purna Kumari Subedi as the vice chairperson. The election for the post is scheduled for later today.
However, another coalition member of the government, Madhesi Janadhikar
Forum, announced to support the candidate of Terai Madhes Loktantrik Party
(TMLP) for vice chair. TMLP had supported the candidate of MJF for the
post of vice president.
Other partner in the coalition Sadbhawana Party has fielded its own
candidate - Khobhari Raya.
Repeated parleys among the parties Thursday failed to pick a common
candidate for the post. Nepali Congress, which had earlier staked claim
for the post, has decided to support a candidate outside government.
Six candidates are vying for the post. nepalnews.com ia Nov 28 08
