One Nepali commits suicide in Israel, another killed in US

A Nepali girl, who had reached Israel to work as a domestic maid committed suicide on Tuesday, at her residence, Non Resident Nepali (NRN) National Coordination Committee (NCC) said.

According to Bhuvan Singh Kuwar, NRN Israel chief, Uma Devi Rai, a permanent resident of Kangel VDC in Solukhumbu district had reached Israel for works two and a half years ago.

In her last note before committing suicide, Rai conveyed wishes and longevity of life for friends and families and left contact number of her few friends.

Kuwar quoted Rai's friend Kalpana Rai as saying that she was caught by depression due to long bout of homesickness. She was admitted to a mental hospital and had undergone treatment for a month, where doctors had advised her to return to Nepal.

In another report, robbers have killed a Nepali student Ashok Bhattarai, 21, in Missouri City of the United States, Sunday.

Bhattarai who had been in the city since last one year was killed shortly after 10 pm inside the 1st Food Stop at 2563 Cartwright at a convenience store where he used to work as a clerk. He was a student at Houston Community College.

The robber fired at him without making any demands for cash, reports quoted police officials.
