No decision on political coordination committee, supplies to be bolstered during Dashain
The cabinet, Sunday, did not decide on the formation of the much-expected political coordination committee.
"We did not discuss the issue today," Health Minister Girirajmani Pokharel told Kantipur FM following the cabinet meeting this evening.
Even as reports had indicated that former general secretary of Unified Marxist Leninist (UML) Madhav Kumar Nepal would be heading the all party committee – which will be entrusted with political guidance of the government – the cabinet failed to make any headway in this regard.
Minister Pokharel added that the cabinet has decided to expedite the rehabilitation efforts of flood-victims.
The cabinet also decided to strictly monitor the market on the eve of festival season in order to quash black-marketing and illegal hoarding, thereby, ensuring smooth supplies of essentials. The cabinet has instructed the Home and Supplies Ministry to coordinate for the purpose.
"The cabinet decided to end the irregularities seen in the supplies side," said Krishna Bahadur Mahara, Information Ministry and government spokesperson.
The cabinet meeting has also decided to increase the monthly salaries of Maoists' People's Liberation Army combatants to Rs 5000 from Rs 3000. nepalnews.com sd Oct 05 08
