Mahastami being observed today
Hindu devotees across the country are observing the Mahastami, the eighth day of the Dashain festival, on Tuesday amidst religious ceremonies and festivities.
Queues of people are seen in various temples of Goddess Durga, also called Shakti Peeths, to offer pujas and sacrifices from early morning. Sacrifices and special offerings are made at Dashainghars and Kots. Machinery, weapons and vehicles are also cleaned and worshipped.
As the day of tika approaches, family members rush to gather together and festivities get heightened.
