Dr Bhattarai urges donors for more support
Finance Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai has urged the international community to support Nepal for economic transformation, which was devastated by the decade long insurgency.
He informed the Nepalese community in Washington DC that he relayed request for financial assistance to international community during the eighth annual meeting of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund.
According to Nepalipost, a Nepali news site operated from US, FM Dr Bhattarai expressed hope that the donors will extend support more than Nepal expected to revitalise education and health sector.
Dr Bhattarai told donors that Nepal needs Rs 30 billion for free education up to grade V and another Rs 18 billion in addition to current government allocation to support education up to grade XII.
The government expects around Rs 65 billion to implement the programme and policies passed from the parliament recently. nepalnews.com ia Oct 11 08
