President against politics of ethnicity, regionalism
The politics of ethnicity and regionalism would not benefit Nepal and Nepalis, it will, instead, bring in instability and conflicts, President Rambaran Yadav has said.
In his inaugural address delivered on the occasion of NRN Day celebration in Janakpur, Monday, President Yadav stressed the need to establish political stability for rapid economic growth and development in the country.
He said political movement for transformation of Nepal has been completed and that it is time for all to divert their concentration towards development.
Ending all forms of violence, completing the peace process and writing a new constitution were the mandates given by the people to the political parties, he added.
Citing the continuation of conflict situation in eastern terai districts, President Yadav expressed hopes that the government would take effective initiatives to invite the rebels to table and meet their appropriate demands.
"Wherever we live – be it in Himalayas, hills or terai – and whichever dress we wear or whichever language we speak, we must have one feeling that we are Nepalis," the president further said.
NRN is celebrating its anniversary in Janakpur with the aim to explore the possibility of involving NRNs in rural development in Nepal. Over 60 people from over 20 countries are taking part in the two-day regional debate starting from Monday. nepalnews.com ia Oct 13 08
