UML’s existing CC to organize general convention
The central committee meeting of the Unified Marxist Leninist (UML) ended, Monday, deciding to organize the general convention through the existing CC.
The meeting disapproved the proposal made by general secretary Jhal Nath Khanal to dissolve the CC and form a separate general convention organizing committee.
The meeting decided that the management committees and sub-committees for the general convention slated to take place in Kathmandu from February 16-21 will be formed by the party standing committee.
Reports say that Khanal’s proposal to form separate organizing committee was met with resistance from a number of senior leaders including former general secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal and KP Oli.
Meanwhile, the CC meeting approved the political report presented by the general secretary with some changes.
The report will be put forth in the National Conference of the party workers to be held soon.
In his report, Khanal has pointed out the need to conduct ideological fight against the ultra leftist and anarchic thoughts of the Maoists. nepalnews.com sd Oct 14 08
