Govt to remove shops from footpaths
The government is all set to remove shops from footpaths of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur districts that is expected to ease the traffic congestion of the capital city.
A meeting of the officials of the three districts held Monday decided to move with the plan from tomorrow. A taskforce has been created for implementation of the decision.
Footpath shops have been obstructing the pedestrians and compelling them to use roads thereby creating obstacles to vehicular movement. The initiative was taken on the direction of Home Minister Bam Dev Gautam. Initiative was planned before Dashain but postponed for festival sales.
Local administration will use force if the shoppers failed to oblige by the orders to remove all such shops by Wednesday.
Kalanki, Koteshor, Maharajgunj, Old Bus Park, Tundikhel, Ratnapark, Lagankhel, Satdobato and Gwarko among other places will face action first. nepalnews.com ia Oct 14 08
