Three killed in Rautahat bomb blast

Three members of a family were killed in a bomb explosion in Chandranigahapur of Rautahat district Tuesday evening.

The blast occurred near the bus park in the town at around 4 pm, killing the three on the spot, reports said. Local administration identified the deceased as Shila Sinjali, 24, her two-year-old daughter Sristi Sinjali and three-year-old nephew Jivicha Thapa.

The victims were waiting for a public bus to head home, at Chandranigahapur Chowk, when the blast occurred.

Nobody has claimed responsibility for the bomb attack, but police suspect the hand of one of the armed outfit operating in Terai.

Irate locals of Chandranigahapur staged protest against the bomb attack on innocent people. They chanted slogans against the local administration and the police for poor security arrangement in the town and also vandalised some shops during the protest. Vehicular transportation along the Mahendra Highway has been obstructed because of the protests

Security has been beefed up in Chandranigahapur following the blast, but no arrests have been made so far in connection with the blast. nepalnews.com mk/ag Oct 14 08
