'Maoists, Unity Center ready for name change after unity'
General Secretary of CPN-Unity Center (Mashal) Narayan Kaji Shrestha has
said that his party and CPN (Maoist) have already reached an agreement on
changing the name of the party once the two parties become one.
"We will give a suitable name to the unified party. The question whether
to put only Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) may be solved by the general
convention of the united party," he said speaking at an interaction
organised by the Reporters' Club Tuesday.
Shrestha also claimed that there are no differences within his party over
the idea of merging with the Maoist party and that the Maoist party is
also quite ready for it.
Senior Maoist leader Mohan Vaidya has been saying that the unity will not
take place in the near future because there is still a wide ideological
gap between the two parties.
Speaking at the same programme, senior UML leader Bharat Mohan Adhikari
said that there was no possibility of unity among the leftist parties.
He, however supported the idea of left unity, but emphasised on the need
for broader democratic.
Another speaking at the interaction, CPN (ML) leader C. P. Mainali, opined
that it is a right time for the left parties to unite. nepalnews.com ps Oct 21 08
