Koirala in Biratnagar to begin NC 'revival campaign'
Nepali Congress president Girija Prasad Koirala has arrived in his
hometown Biratnagar Thursday for a 'party-revival campaign' that begins
Saturday.
The NC announced the nationwide campaign to regain its base among voters
after a the defeat in the Constituent Assembly election held early this
year.
Koirala will address the first mass gathering to be organised in
Biratnagar Saturday. Other party leaders including Shekhar Koirala and
Krishna Sitaula have already reached there to make necessary preparations
for the mass meeting.
The party further expects to harmonise the relation between the two
factions in the party who came together before the elections. The leaders
have admitted that the party could not be united at the lower level even
as the two NC and NC (Democratic) reached the unification deal.
Additionally, the campaign is aimed at accelerating protests against the
possible integration of the Maoist combatants into the Nepal Army.
Koirala will meet party's local leader at his residence today. nepalnews.com ia Oct 23 08
