Foreign Minister lauds UN role in Nepal's peace process; calls for more
development assistance
Foreign Minister Upendra Yadav has praised the role of the United Nations
Mission in Nepal (UNMIN) as a facilitator in Nepal's peace process.
Speaking at a programme organised to mark the 63rd UN Day organided at the
UN House in Lalitpur Friday, minister Yadav also urged UN and other
international aid agencies as well as other development partners to
provide more development assistance and support for the post-conflict
rebuilding and stabilisation of the country.
Highlighting the positive pace of the peace process minister Yadav Said, "The peace process is moving ahead and we are determined to bring it to a
logical conclusion."
Speaking on the occasion, Special Representative of UN Secretary General
in Nepal, Ian
Martin, said, "Today among the many continuing conflict and failing peace
process around the world, the major steps that Nepal has taken in its
peace process deserved to be recognised."
He further said that peace process would not be completed as long as there
are two armies in one country and expressed his hope that the special
committee which is going to formed soon would resolve the issue.
UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator In Nepal, Robert Piper also
