NC launches 'revival campaign'
The main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) party kick-started its nationwide Jagaran (awareness) campaign from Biratnagar Saturday. The party president and former prime minister Girija Prasad Koirala inaugurated the campaign at Haat Khola Maidan following rallies around Biratnagar.
The campaign is aimed at reviving the party's base at the grassroots level. The NC has said it would spearhead the revival campaign in all 240 election constituency across the country.
Dozens of senior NC leaders including vice-president Ram Chandra Poudel, Krishna Prasad Sitaula, Dr Shekhar Koirala and MInendra Rijal have arrived at the eastern Nepal city to participate in the campaign.
