Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Bamdev Gautam has reached Koshi flood-affected areas to inspect the latest situation and take stock of progress in providing facilities to the displaced people, Tuesday.

Home secretary Umesh Mainali, Inspector General of Nepal Police, Om Bikram Rana, Inspector General of Armed Police Force (APF) Basudev Oli and other senior officials accompanied him on the inspection visit.

Gautam's visit comes at a time when reports have said political differences among the parties in eastern district have affected the service delivery to the flood-hit people.

Beside observing the flooded area and meeting the displaced people, Gautam will also meet security chiefs in the eastern districts. Gautam, soon after taking over the charge of home ministry, vowed to bring about drastic change in the security of the country.

Eastern districts have been prone to poor security due to presence of underground armed outfits in terai and paramilitary groups in hills. nepalnews.com ia Sep 02 08
